Summer Jobs

Mt. Sinai Church Summer Youth Jobs Program

The Mt. Sinai Summer Jobs Program began in 2015 as an opportunity for college students to gain work experience, participate in professional development workshops, and travel abroad. Mt. Sinai Church partners with PrideStaff (https://www.pridestaff.com) to select students to intern with various employers, including Razor’s Edge Music Group, ICEF Public Charter Schools, Herber Aircraft Services, Amazing Grace Conservatory, LA County Public Affairs Office, and others. Those selected to participate in this program are interviewed by the Summer Job committee at Mt. Sinai Church, as well as by PrideStaff. An interview may also be scheduled with the employer, if needed.

The students’ compensation is funded by Mt. Sinai Church. The only requirement from the employer is weekly supervision, training, and approval of hours worked by the student. Throughout the 6 week program, students participate in professional development workshops that focus on areas like leadership, financial planning, organizational skills, and healthy living. At the conclusion of the program, the students embark on an educational travel experience of a lifetime.

This year, the students interned from June 26, 2017 through August 3, 2017. They worked Monday-Thursday each week. On Fridays the students reported to Mt. Sinai Church for their weekly professional development workshop. This year, the program culminated in an educational trip to Europe, including London, Paris, and Rome.

To date, 12 college students have benefited from this program, funded by Mt. Sinai Church.
